How to schedule an NCCP Coaching workshop in your region
- Contact the Karin in the CCSAM office
with your preferred date(s) and location, and projected
number of participants. Requests must be made at least 4 weeks prior to your suggested date(s).
- Submit a proposed budget for all possible expenses. All eligible
workshop expenses will be covered by the Sport Manitoba - Coaching Unit
subsidy program (see limitations below). An application for reimbursement will be sent to Sport
Manitoba by the CCSAM office using your submitted budget.
Please use the following guidelines for preparing your budget:
- Facility fee.
An indoor facility for classroom-like work will be necessary. Depending on the workshop, an outdoor area for ski practice will
also be needed. If there is a fee for your facility, please include the amount.
- Audio/Video Equipment.
Depending on the clinic, a TV & DVD player or an LCD projector and
screen may be needed. The maximum covered cost is $25/day.
- Advertising.
The maximum covered cost is $30/workshop.
Note: The workshop will be advertised on the CCSAM website and in our periodic email messages to our Contact List.
- Administration costs.
The maximum covered cost is $15/workshop.
- Meals & refreshments are not eligible for subsidy.
- All Learning Facilitator expenses will be paid directly to the
facilitator by CCSAM. If overnight accommodation is necessary and billeting
(i.e. zero cost) is not available, please include an estimate cost for accommodation.
Other things to keep in mind:
- Workshop fees per participant:
ICC workshop -- $45/person;
CC workshop -- $55/person;
CCI workshops -- $60/person.
Materials will be supplied by the facilitator. These fees will be billed to your club/organization (based
on the number of participants) or you may ask participants to pay the facilitator
directly. Cash or cheque only (payable to "CCSAM").
- ICC workshops are 10 hours in length (e.g. an evening plus a full day),
and do not require an outdoor facility. Since snow is not necessary, this
workshop can occur anytime during the year. An ICC workshop is the pre-requisite
for all other workshops in the NCCP progression. Everyone working with Bunnyrabbit-aged children (6 or younger) or assisting with
Jackrabbits & Track Attack skiers must complete this workshop. Please see
the minimum mandatory requirements for ski coaches enforced by Cross Country
Canada.
- CC workshops are 16 hours in length (e.g. 2 full days), and do require a
skiable practice area (enough snow to ski on is necessary). This workshop is the
2nd step in the NCCP progression and is necessary for all coaches responsible
for Jackrabbits & Track Attack skiers.
- CCI workshops (Dryland & On Snow) are also 16 hours in length each, and
are the next stages of NCCP coach progression. These workshops are for those
coaches in your club working with athletes in the Training to Train
stage of the Long Term Athlete Development Model and beyond.
- Coaches with a desire to some day lead a team of skiers to the Canada
Winter Games will need to progress through all of these workshops and beyond in order to satisfy the minimum requirements of a
Canada Games coach.
- Please be aware that workshop fees per participant will be increasing
$10 to $20 each year starting in 2009-2010 in order to catch up to the true cost of
workshops and meet minimum requirements for subsidy from our funding partners.
